Quality Senior Services

One of the bedrock organizational values of PHI is to provide a high quality of life to the residents we serve. The effort to ensure this quality rests on four pillars:

Customer Feedback
Regular customer feedback is secured through an organized customer satisfaction survey. But we don't stop there. Each PHI location also has a resident and family council to discuss concerns and make suggestions. In addition, the PHI Board of Trustees has established a Resident's Council President's Forum where the leadership of the resident's association in each of our retirement communities meets regularly with Board leadership to discuss quality and service.

Accreditation
The PHI Board has established an organizational standard to obtain accreditation from national accreditation organizations. PHI's retirement communities are accredited by the Continuing Care Accreditation Commission (CCAC).

Association Involvement
PHI is also active in state and national not-for-profit long-term care associations. These organizations provide educational programs and research designed to improve quality of care for its members and the residents they serve. All PHI facilities are members of the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging (AAHSA) and it's state affiliates - PANPHA (Pennsylvania Association of Not-for-Profit Homes for the Aging), Mid-Atlantic Life Span (the Maryland Association of Not-for-Profit Homes for the Aging, MANPHA), or the Delaware Association of Not-for-Profit Homes for the Aging (DAHSA).

Quality Improvement Programs
With the support of corporate staff, Quality Improvement Teams in each facility identify programs and services that could benefit from focused attention to improve outcomes.

PHI also works hand-in-hand with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to ensure residents get the best possible care. Click here to download "How Can You Measure Quality of Care in a Nursing Facility?"

Clinical Indicators
Families appreciate the detailed clinical assessment provided for each of our health center residents' upon admission and repeatedly throughout his or her stay with PHI. This assessment of "clinical indicators" offers us specific information on how to best focus staff efforts on individual resident's care needs and risk factors.
